Yes the day has finally come to get the news out. We are in private beta which means we are looking forward to get some people to test the RjDj Iphone application and give us some quality feedback on the work we do. If everything goes well, we will submit RjDj to apple’s app store pretty soon.
So here are the facts:
Thanks to the RjDj team amaury, guenter and especially paul. Many thanks to the people who joined us in the RjDj sprints in Bizau and Barcelona, you all made wonderful RjDj scenes which are the soul of RjDj.
Wow, that was a crazy weekend in barcelona. All the participants of the Barcelona sprint went through four days of programming in extreme conditions (extreme programming ;-) We all basically lived underneath the sky without even sleeping in the tents we provided. The results are amazing. RjDj is happy to now provide a number of diverse and powerful scenes. Scenes like Georg Holzmann’s pingpong demonstrate the the gaming character of the RjDj genre. Damian Stewart demonstrated how sexy your surrounding sounds like, Frank Barknecht’s grid walker presents custom tailored melodies for any situation and Roman Haefeli’s Amen Shake points out how music sounds when supported through accelerometer data.
After three days of sprinting in Barcelona, the jury gave Frank Barknecht and Damian Stewart both 7 votes for their scene. Frank got the Itouch which was decided by coin toss. Bad luck for Damian but we are sure we will see more good work from Damian in the next sprints.
We had a big Eurovision Scene Contest party last night. I will write more about the winner scenes once i am in the plane. For now, thanks to all the participants, Paul for the terrace, Nadine for helping us to organize all of this and all the partners of the participants who spent the weekend alone at home ;-)
The RjDj Sprint is now on its second day. In good old spanish tradition we are having siesta’s on the beach from 3pm to 6pm and then work until 3am in the morning like all spanish people do. All participants got straight into RjDj and work with an incredible speed. Still it is really very demanding to get at least one scene done in three days. Here is an update with a list of the scenes submitted so far:

We just announced the prize for the best RjDj summer Scene. The participants of the Barcelona sprint have until Sunday evening to submit their scenes. A yet to be defined democratic election will vote for the best Scene. The price is hot: a brand new iTouch! We will keep you updated about the submissions.
For all of you who are accessing the realityjockey.com site: the latest posts are now on www.rjdj.me. We moved our blog to www.rjdj.me but will forward the realityjockey.com domain soon…
When the majority of Barceloneses just left for their notorious August vacationes not only a lot of tourists swarm the city but also some of the coolest PD people found their way to the hottest location ;-)
We started the RJ Barcelona Sprint this morning, after a night of BBQ and drinks on Paul’s terrace. Apart of Frank Barknecht everyone was sleeping well either in a tent or just under the open sky (I am sure Frank will have a wonderful night today as well ;-). We will keep you posted about what is going on here. Unfortunately we were not yet able to setup a decent infrastructure for people taking part remotely. If you are interested, please drop by on the #rjdj irc channel on freenode.net. For now, check out our photo stream.
